Gordon Food Service Acquires a Division of Red Diamond, Inc.

BIRMINGHAM, AL, June 8, 2017—Red Diamond, Inc. announced that it has entered into an agreement with Gordon Food Service to acquire Red Diamond Foodservice, a division of Red Diamond, Inc., headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. The Red Diamond Foodservice portfolio includes brands with products spanning from dry grocery to refrigerated and frozen food products. The transaction is expected to close in the next 90 days. Following the acquisition, Red Diamond’s broadline foodservice customers will be serviced from Gordon Food Service’s distribution center in Douglasville, Georgia.

Red Diamond Coffee and Tea will continue to be owned by Red Diamond, Inc., providing quality coffee and teas across North America and the Caribbean. President and CEO Bill Bowron said, “For a number of years, as Red Diamond has grown its business, we have found our company increasingly competing in foodservice with the very distributors to whom we sell our coffee and tea products. The sale of the foodservice distribution allows us to concentrate on the continuing expansion of Red Diamond’s coffee and tea business across North America and the Caribbean.” Bowron added, “Gordon Food Service is strategically the best possible fit for our foodservice customers and employees.”
