A delicious addition to any menu, this easy-to-prepare chicken recipe has all the ingredients that bring out the best flavor.
Ingredients
1 gallon brewed Simple Sweet Tea
1/3 cup kosher salt
4 pounds cut up chicken
4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons seasoned salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
2 cups whole buttermilk
1 tablespoon hot sauce
Fryer oil
Directions
Set aside 2 cups of brewed sweet tea for dredging. In a large plastic container combine sweet tea and kosher salt, add chicken pieces, cover, and refrigerate 12 to 24 hours.
Preheat oven to 350. Spray a cooling rack with nonstick cooking spray and place rack in pan, set aside. Heat at least a half-gallon of oil in a deep fryer to 350-degrees.
In a shallow dish, combine flour, seasoned salt, pepper and paprika. In a separate shallow dish, combine buttermilk, hot sauce and reserved 2 cups sweet tea.
Remove chicken from sweet tea brine and dip each in flour mixture. Dip in buttermilk mixture and again in flour mixture, shaking off excess.
Fry in hot oil in batches, 5 to 8 minutes. Place chicken in prepared baking tray and finish cooking in oven until a meat thermometer registers 165 degrees, about 10 to 20 minutes depending on size of chicken cut.
